The Digital Orsen Hardness Tester is a standard constant load hardness tester widely used for cosmetics-related inspection applications such as foundations. A pressing needle with a predetermined spherical tip presses the sample with a constant load, and the depth of the dent is read with a digital gauge to measure the hardness of the test piece.
Depending on the specimen, the load can be selected from 453.5g to 1360.5g (1 to 3 lbs). Since the pressing needle is moved up and down by operating the handle, no personal error occurs.
